Leaves of absence and reasonable accommodations pose difficult challenges for employers and human resources professionals. In this seminar, Jennifer Shaw, a recognized employment law expert, will provide an overview of these subjects. Her discussion will include:
- The final FMLA regulations that took effect on January 16, 2009
- The new FMLA “service member” and “caregiver” rules
- The interaction between the FMLA, the California Family Rights Act, and Pregnancy Disability Leave
- How to handle workers’ compensation claims that involve leaves of absence
- What constitutes a “reasonable accommodation”?
- What is required for an “interactive process?”
- What constitutes an “undue hardship”?
Attendees will receive a sample FMLA/CFRA policy and Service Member FMLA policy that reflect the new regulations and other resources. There will be plenty of time for questions! |
